Corn growers win national yield contest

Shawn Kalb, Kevin Kalb, Rhylan Kalb, Nikia B. Kalb, all of Dubois, and Brad Wehr of Jasper were all honored in separate classes of the 2020 National Corn Yield Contest, which is sponsored annually by the National Corn Growers Association.

The contest recognizes farmers from across the country for their efforts and exceptional results.

• Shawn Kalb of Dubois placed first in the nation in the D: No‐Till Non‐Irrigated Class with a yield of 329.0569 bushels per acre. The hybrid used in the winning field was DEKALBDKC64‐35RIB.

• Kevin Kalb of Dubois placed first in the nation in the B: Conventional Non‐Irrigated Class with a yield of 385.4405 bushels per acre. The hybrid used in the winning field was DEKALBDKC67‐44RIB.

• Brad Wehr of Jasper placed first in the nation in the F: Strip‐Till, Minimum‐Till, Mulch‐Till, Ridge‐Till Class Non-Irrigated Class with a yield of 347.4597 bushels per acre. The hybrid used in the winning field was DEKALBDKC65‐95RIB.

• Rhylan Kalb of Dubois placed Second in the nation in the B: Conventional Non‐Irrigated Class with a yield of 345.9045 bushels per acre. The hybrid used in the winning field was DEKALBDKC67‐44RIB.

• Nikia B. Kalb of Dubois placed second in the nation in the F: Strip‐Till, Minimum‐Till, Mulch‐Till, Ridge‐Till Class Non-Irrigated Class with a yield of 323.7572 bushels per acre. The hybrid used in the winning field was DEKALBDKC70‐27RIB.
