Conversion van destroyed by fire

HUNTINGBURG — St. Henry Volunteer Fire Department members responded Sunday when a conversion van burst into flames south of Huntingburg.
Fire Chief Kurt Dilger said a man who had just bought a full-size conversion van in Rockport stopped at G&S Mobile-RV Service & Supply, 11426 S. U.S. 231, to look at a bus parked for sale there.
Fire erupted in the van’s engine compartment and burned so hot it melted the aluminum radiator, Dilger said. A passenger safely exited and a car that was being towed behind the conversion van was moved to safety.
The conversion van was considered a total loss.
Two trucks and 12 firefighters were on the scene about an hour.
