Construction activity triggers alarm

JASPER — Units of the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department responded to a Monday afternoon alarm activation at St. Thomas Properties, 616 W. 13th St.
There was no fire associated with the 4:28 p.m. run, according to Fire Chief Kenny Hochgesang. Instead, he added, paint fumes from construction work were found to have triggered the system.
Three trucks were on the scene 15 minutes.
