Comments wanted about Clay Street parking

From Local Sources

HUNTINGBURG — The Huntingburg Common Council wants to give the public a chance to comment before it decides whether or not to make both sides of Clay Street between Ninth and Church streets no parking zones.

The council introduced Tuesday evening a new ordinance eliminating parking on the half block, having received a recommendation to do so from the Huntingburg Board of Public Works and Safety. Emergency personnel have requested this change because it is hard for emergency vehicles to turn onto Clay when there are cars parked along the street.

Comments from the public will be taken at the council’s next meeting, prior to the council’s final decision on the matter. The meeting is set for 7 p.m. Sept. 25 on the second floor of City Hall, 508 E. Fourth St.
