Colvin receives nursing scholarship
May 29, 2020JASPER — Jill Colvin, BSN, RNC-OB, is this year’s recipient of the $1,500 Tonya Heim Nursing Scholarship.
Heim was vice president of Patient Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center until her retirement in December 2019.
Colvin works as a nurse clinician in the Women and Infant Services Department at Memorial Hospital and plans to obtain an Master of Science in Nursing degree.
She has been a leader in the department for the past 10 years as a night charge nurse. She is also a Neonatal Resuscitation Program instructor and works part-time attending to patients at the bedside. Colvin was also recently elected as the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses state secretary/treasurer.
The first priority of the Tonya Heim Nursing Scholarship is to provide assistance to registered nurse employees of Memorial Hospital who are enrolled or plan to enroll in an accredited advancement program toward a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree; second priority is to provide assistance for advancement to a Master of Science in Nursing degree; third priority is for a Doctor of Nursing Practice or a doctoral degree in nursing; and the final priority is for assistance for those pursuing advance practice degrees, including but not limited to, nurse practitioner or certified registered nurse anesthetists.
