BIRDSEYE — The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office reported a truck was totaled in a collision Saturday night with a deer northwest of Birdseye.
Bryce S. Schepers, 21, Celestine, was northbound on County Road 1025E in a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado when the 10:57 p.m. accident occurred north of Schnellville Road, according to the sheriff’s office.
Schepers slowed for a deer on the east side of the roadway but, at the last moment, the deer ran back onto the roadway, according to a deputy.
The sheriff’s office estimated the truck was totaled because its airbags deployed in the collision. The dollar damage estimate was between $2,500 and $5,000.
