Collision with deer sidelines car

From Local Sources

HILLHAM — A tow truck was needed after a deer-versus-car collision early Thursday in the Hillham area.

Kimberly A. Street, 53, Jasper, was westbound on State Road 56 in a 2010 Chrysler Sebring when the 12:20 a.m. accident occurred near Hillham Road South, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.

A deputy said a deer entered the highway from the south and Street’s car collided with it. She was able to drive off the roadway before the Chrysler started smoking, according to the sheriff’s department.

Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.

The Dubois Volunteer Fire Department and a Ruxer Ford wrecker assisted.
