Collision with deer damages ExplorerFebruary 24, 2020

CRYSTAL — A motorist was able to drive from the scene of a Tuesday morning collision with a deer west of Crystal.
Christopher D. Vernon, 42, Jasper, was westbound on State Road 56 in a 2013 Ford Explorer when the 5:36 a.m. accident occurred 150 feet west of County Road 750E, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy said Vernon’s SUV collided with a deer that came onto the highway from the south.
Damage to the vehicle was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
The deer was located deceased in the roadway and was removed.
