Chef, cancer center team for cooking classSeptember 9, 2019
JASPER — Memorial Hospital’s Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center is teaming up with award-winning chef Ryan Callahan to share his program, Cooking for Chemo.
Chef Callahan will give two free public presentations on Thursday, Sept. 26. The first will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and the second will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Attendees will be entered into a random drawing for a free copy of Chef Callahan’s book, “Cooking for Chemo … and After!”
During chemotherapy treatments, many patients often report eating less as food begins to taste and smell different, creating a less desirable eating experience. In his program, Chef Callahan teaches how to adjust cooking techniques to help cancer patients enjoy eating again.
Chef Callahan has won two Gourmand Awards for his culinary expertise. His book, “Cooking for Chemo … and After!” won Best New Health and Nutrition Cookbook, USA in 2016. His book, “Chef Ryan’s How-to-Cook Cookbook,” won Most Innovative Cookbook, USA in 2018. He is a hospitality industry veteran with over 15 years of hands-on culinary experience.
This free presentation will be held in the Medical Arts Building Conference Center, located at 721 West 13th St., Jasper. Preregistration is required for this event. To preregister, call Memorial Hospital’s Marketing Department at 812-996-2352, or go online to www.mhhcc.org and click on “Classes and Events.” Deadline to register is Thursday, Sept. 19.
