FERDINAND — Two people were injured and one is awaiting criminal charges after a car fled from police early Saturday.
The Ferdinand Police Department says a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Dylan T. Mundy, 19, St. Anthony, was clocked at 48 mph in the 35 mph zone at State Road 162 and Pine Drive at 1:17 a.m.
A traffic stop was attempted, but police allege Mundy increased speed northbound, turned west onto Holiday Lake Road and eventually went onto County Road 815S where he lost control and the car struck a tree.
Mundy, who suffered a leg injury, and a juvenile passenger were transported by ambulance for treatment at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center. That juvenile, whom police declined to identify, was treated and released to relatives.
Police said Mundy remains at the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Charges are pending.
Damage was estimated at $6,000.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office, Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Department, Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services and a Berg’s Garage wrecker assisted.
