JASPER — The Jasper Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a health screening for the public from 5:45 to 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, at Memorial Southside Office, 1100 W. 12th Ave. A 12-hour fast is needed for blood work; however, people may drink water and take prescribed medications.
Screening will be done on blood cholesterol (total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides and cholesterol ratio), blood pressure, height and weight, waist circumference, Body Mass Index, blood glucose, chemistry panel and tobacco status. The colon cancer detection take-home kits is optional for those over age 50. The PSA (blood draw) is optional for men 50 and older or those with a risk of prostate cancer.
Cost for a basic screening is $39. The PSA blood test is $20; colon cancer detection kits are $8.
The screening lasts approximately 15 minutes, and preregistration is required.
Appointments are now being accepted. Go to the hospital’s website at www.mhhcc and click on “Health Screening.” Enter “Jasper Chamber” as the company name and “2019” as the password. Click on the date of screening/time preferred and complete the registration process.
