Cattle meeting to focus on desired market traits

CUZCO — The Dubois County Cattlemen’s Association and Purdue Extension — Dubois County will host their annual cattle meeting on Thursday, March 12.  The event will focus on what cattle traits and characteristics customers, markets, and sale barns are looking for in quality beef cattle, with the meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Southern Indiana Purdue Ag. Center (SIPAC), 11371 E. Purdue Farm Road, Dubois.

Speakers and topics will include:

Dave Fischer, owner of Fischer Farms Natural Beef: “What Are Fischer Farms and Their Customers Looking For In Quality Beef Cattle?”

Dr. Jeff Lehmkuhler, Extension beef cattle specialist, University of Kentucky: “Feeder Calves: Making Money Through A Sale Barn (What Characteristics Do Sales Barns Want?)”

Representatives from Krempp Lumber and Fischer Farms Natural Beef., sponsors for this year’s meeting, will discuss services available to cattle producers.
