Cats win third straight volleyball sectionalOctober 26, 2013
From Herald Staff Reports
The Jasper volleyball team captured its third straight sectional championship Saturday night, and there was no doubt about this one.
The Wildcats pulled away from Heritage Hills 25-21, 25-15, 25-9 to extend their state-best sectional championship total to 35. A year after Jasper needed five sets to subdue the Patriots in the sectional championship, the Wildcats (20-16) cruised against the Patriots (13-20) this time to reach Tuesday's single-match regional. Jasper will host either Boonville or Evansville Bosse on Tuesday night.
Jasper was even more dominant in the semifinals, roaring to a 21-0 start in the opening set en route to a 25-3, 25-21, 25-9 sweep of Vincennes Lincoln (12-21). The Patriots stopped Pike Central 25-14, 25-19, 25-21 in the other semifinal.
