While the Jasper Wildcats’ girls tennis season may have come to an end a few weeks ago at the regional tournament, two members of the Jasper team find themselves with a goal of a state championship still very well in play.
There were plenty of Wildcat hugs and tears Wednesday evening after Jasper hosted Washington in the finals of the IHSAA girls tennis regional. Unfortunately, they were not tears of joy, and the hugs were those of consolation.
The Jeeps had been here before. For the past few years, the Northeast Dubois girls tennis teams have put together dominant regular seasons on their way to a berth in the sectional finals. But each time they would make it to the tournament’s peak, the Barr-Reeve Vikings would be there to play the spoiler role.
