Two women were taken to the hospital after a wreck Saturday afternoon just southeast of Jasper in which failed brakes were reported as the cause. Indiana State Police and Jasper police closed out the weekend by taking two men to the county security early Sunday for two incidents of alleged impaired driving.
The Jasper Police Department obtained an arrest warrant Wednesday for a 44-year-old Michigan man after, police alleged, a five-month investigation revealed he tried to solicit sex acts from an individual he thought to be a 14-year-old Jasper Middle School student.
An SUV driven by a motorist who said he swerved to miss a deer crossed the centerline west of Huntingburg this morning and struck a Pike County woman’s car, injuring her. And, on Tuesday night, members of the Ireland Volunteer Fire Department responded to a hazardous roadway incident west of Ireland.
Police ticketed both drivers in a mishap Monday afternoon in Jasper and the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department worked a crash south of Huntingburg in which a Kentucky motorist totaled his car and took out a telephone pole.
A distracted motorist was injured Sunday afternoon in a rollover accident south of the Bretzville Junction. Also during the weekend, police made two arrests for impaired driving and made multiple drug-related arrests.
