Carol A. Burris, 72, of Birdseye, passed away at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2020, at Brookside Village in Jasper.
Carol was born in Dubois County on April 28, 1947, to Robert L. and Ardella T. (Engelhart) Stenftenagel. She married Thomas Burris on September 26, 1986.
She worked as a telephone lineman supervisor for GTE in Jasper, and also was a horticulture buyer for a mail order catalog in Peoria, Illinois.
She loved gardening and mushroom hunting, and enjoyed helping with the Birdseye Chicken Frys and the St. Anthony and Birdseye Firemen’s Festivals.
Surviving are her husband, Thomas Burris of Birdseye; one son, Brian Kluesner, Jasper; one stepson, Jason Burris (Julie), Jacksonville, Florida; four sisters, Bettye Walling (Jerry) Pacific, Missouri, Linda Fuchs, Ferdinand, Nancy Verkamp (Louie), Ferdinand, and Sandy Sermersheim (Kevin), Ferdinand; and two brothers, Jim Stenftenagel (Ann), St. Anthony, and Ken Stenftenagel, St. Anthony.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
Private graveside services and burial will be held at a later date at the Birdseye Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lange Fuhs Cancer Center or a favorite charity.
