HUNTINGBURG — A Floyd County man was medically checked at the scene of a car-versus-deer collision Wednesday night just west of the Bretzville Junction.
Kevin M. Deaton, 49, Georgetown, was eastbound on State Road 64 in a 2019 Ford Mustang when the 8:53 p.m. accident occurred west of State Road 162, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy said the Mustang collided head-on with a deer that came onto the highway from the north.
The crash likely totaled the Mustang, according to the sheriff’s office, with damage estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
St. Anthony Volunteer Fire Department first responders and Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services assisted at the scene.
