Car-vs-deer collision leads to damage

BIRDSEYE — A Birdseye woman’s vehicle sustained damage in a car-versus-deer collision late Wednesday afternoon along a county road northwest of Birdseye.

Stacey R. Mitchell, 52, Birdseye, was eastbound on Schnellville Road in a 2013 Ford Fiesta when the 5:58 p.m. accident occurred west of County Road 1025E, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy said Mitchell’s car collided with a deer that came onto the roadway and into her lane of travel from the south. The Fiesta’s passenger-side front bumper hit the animal, with the deer being located deceased at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.

Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000 but the car was able to be driven from the scene.
