DUBOIS — A Martin County motorist needed an assist from a tow truck after a collision with a deer near the county’s northern border Friday morning.
Derek F. Mattingly, 31, Loogootee, was southbound on Hickory Grove Road in a 2006 Ford Focus when the 5:40 a.m. accident occurred south of County Road 900N, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy said Mattingly’s car collided with a deer that entered the roadway from the east.
Damage was estimated to have exceeded $5,000.
