JASPER — Police listed a Perry County man’s passenger car as a total loss after a Tuesday afternoon collision with a pickup truck at Second and Clay streets.
Johney J. Lawson, 53, Tell City, was eastbound on Second Street in a 1993 Lincoln Towncar at the time of the 3:07 p.m. mishap, according to the Jasper Police Department.
Police said the driver’s-side front of Lawson’s Lincoln was struck by a southbound 2010 Ford F-150 driven by Zhenya R. Salmon, 18, Shoals.
Salmon told police he did not see that Lawson had pulled into the intersection when he began to proceed southbound at the scene.
Police said a witness advised Lawson was at the intersection prior to Salmon pulling up to it.
Damage to Salmon’s truck was estimated at $2,000 while Lawson’s Lincoln was listed as a total loss.
An officer cited Salmon for failing to yield the right of way.
