Car takes out signs at curveOctober 19, 2018
From Local Sources
JASPER — Roadside directional signs were the collateral damage Sunday when a car failed to negotiate a sharp curve just west of Jasper.
Brooke Scheeter, 22, Jasper, was northbound on County Road 400W in a 2013 Lexus CT when the 5:38 p.m. mishap occurred where the road becomes County Road 150N, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
A deputy said Scheeter failed to slow for the 90-degree turn at the location. The Lexus slid across the centerline and off the north side of the roadway, striking two directional signs owned by the Dubois County Highway Department before stopping in a ditch.
Total damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000, but there were no injuries.
A Sternberg Automotive Group wrecker assisted.
