From Local Sources

CELESTINE — No wrecker was needed after a car struck an already downed deer Sunday night west of Celestine.

Karen R. Marks, 54, Celestine, was eastbound on State Road 164 in a 2009 Toyota Corolla when the 10:43 p.m. mishap occurred near County Road 500E, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.

A deputy said Marks’ Corolla ran over a deer that had previously been stuck in the roadway.

The car’s front bumper skin unsnapped, revealing minor damage around $1,000.
