ST. ANTHONY — Police report damage to a car and a barn after an accident Thursday afternoon southwest of St. Anthony.
Christopher Hayes, 39, of rural Huntingburg, had parked his 2007 Pontiac G6 in the driveway at 3136 E. 550S at the time of the 5:30 p.m. accident, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
A deputy said Hayes noticed the car beginning to move backward and tried unsuccessfully to re-enter the vehicle. The open door knocked Hayes down as the car rolled an estimated 125 feet before striking a barn and stopping.
Hayes complained of lower leg pain and was transported by private vehicle to be checked, according to the sheriff’s department.
Damage was estimated at $2,500 to the Pontiac and $500 to the barn.
