CRYSTAL — A motorist whose crashed car stopped on its roof Sunday morning near Crystal was arrested for impaired driving.
Amber L. Royston, 20, of Shoals was northbound on County Road 750E in a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am when the 6:07 a.m. accident occurred north of State Road 56, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies said it appeared Royston nodded off behind the wheel and her car ran off the east side of the county road in a curve. The car overturned onto its top, police said.
Royston, who suffered an arm and head injury, went to a nearby residence to call for assistance. She was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
Upon her release, police booked Royston into the Dubois County Security Center at 9:25 a.m. on a charge of drunken driving (BAC .27 percent).
The crash totaled the car.
The Dubois Volunteer Fire Department, Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services and a Sternberg Chrysler Center wrecker assisted.
