Car hits deer west of Celestine

CELESTINE — A Celestine man was able to drive away from the scene of a Monday morning collision with a deer west of that community.

Charles L. Fleck, 66, Celestine, was eastbound on State Road 164 in a 2016 Chrysler 300 when the 6:24 a.m. accident occurred 500 feet west of County Road 425E, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy reported Fleck’s car collided with a deer that ran onto the highway, with damage sustained to the vehicle’s passenger-side headlight and front quarter-panel areas.

The damage was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
