Burning board triggers plant’s alarm

From Local Sources

JASPER — A burning board resulted in a Monday afternoon fire run to a Kimball International panel plant at 1450 Cherry St.

Jasper Volunteer Fire Department Chief Kenny Hochgesang said a fiberglass board temporarily hung in a machine and caught fire at 1:40 p.m. An employee used an extinguisher to successfully put out the flames, he added.

The board was removed and taken outside. Hochgesang said there was no damage.

Three trucks and 27 firefighters were on the scene 15 minutes.
