Trace Weidenbenner of Jasper, 14, stood alongside Father Joseph “Effie” Erbacher of Ireland as Bishop Joseph Siegel of Evansville blessed the grounds for the new church building at St. Mary Church in Ireland on Sunday. “To see the grounds being blessed, I was just awestruck,” Erbacher said. “It’s mind-boggling that we are building something this beautiful and it’s now happening.” Construction crews will begin digging in March and estimated completion is Christmas 2019.
