Buddy Poppy drive returns in May

JASPER — Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 673 will conduct its yearly Buddy Poppy donation drive, starting May 1 through 5.

Since 1922, the Buddy Poppy has been an integral part of the VFW community. As the VFW’s official memorial flower, the poppy represents the blood shed by American service members.

All money raised by the post is used to support local veterans in need. The motto of the post is “Honor the Dead by Helping the Living.” The poppies are assembled by disabled veterans.

Members of VFW Post 673 will be collecting donations at Walmart Supercenter, Jasper Post Office, Holiday Foods-Jasper, Rural King and Hometown IGA, all in Jasper.
