Brinkman receives scholarship

The Indiana Alpha Delta Kappa Educational Sorority has awarded $1,000 scholarship to Emily Brinkman of Jasper.

The sorority awards scholarships each year to outstanding students who will be seniors majoring in education at an Indiana college or university. The local Beta Gamma chapter of ADK sponsored Brinkman.

Brinkman is majoring in elementary education at Indiana University, Bloomington. She attended Jasper High School and was a cadet teacher at Tenth Street Elementary School.  She will be student teaching at the new Jasper Elementary School with supervising teacher Andrea Denu.

Brinkman is a member of Delta Gamma Sorority and College Mentors for Kids.  She has past experience as a nanny, a day-care worker and a tutor. Her volunteer activities include helping at a local animal shelter and leading Bible lessons at her church.

She is the daughter of Scott and Christine Brinkman of Jasper.
