Boys State meeting scheduled

JASPER — The American Legion Post 147 of Jasper is hosting a general meeting regarding Hoosier Boys State at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 18, at the post home, 1220 N Newton St. Enter from Newton Street, since the meeting will be in the bingo room.

The meeting is open to all high school juniors within Dubois and surrounding counties. Juniors from Jasper and Northeast Dubois high schools have already registered as delegates. Juniors from Southridge and Forest Park high schools are welcome to attend. Parents are advised to attend with their sons.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss in detail the purpose of Hoosier Boys State including eligibility, outside sponsorship, how to apply, scholarships available, just to name a few areas. The meeting will be approximately 1 1/2 hours, which will include a power point presentation on the 2019 Hoosier Boys State.

Hoosier Boys State is from June 16 through 21 at Trine University in Angola. The $300 cost per delegate is paid for by the American Legion Post 147 and its many local sponsors.
