Book Cellar open twice this weekJune 10, 2019
JASPER — The Book Cellar, located in the basement of the Library Annex, 1103 Main St., will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 13, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15.
On June 13, the Book Cellar will offer all books about animals and the galaxy at a 50% discount in support of the library’s programs that day at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. of Animal Tales: Creatures of the Galaxy. The discount includes science fiction books and all books where animals are main characters.
On June 15, the Book Cellar will celebrate Father’s Day by having fathers to fill-a-bag in the clearance room for $1 (regularly $3) or receive $1 credit toward a purchase in the main Book Cellar. In addition, father’s will receive a free gift while supplies last.
The Book Cellar is operated by the Friends of the Jasper Public Library volunteers and proceeds benefit library programs and events.
The Book Cellar’s inventory covers most genres, as well as DVDs, CDs, puzzles, music sheets and vinyl records.
Hardcover books are $1 to $2, trade paperbacks $1, mass market paperbacks 50 cents, DVDs are $1 and up, CDs are $1 each or three for $2. The special collections section offers new books, first editions, signed books, rare and vintage books and collectibles, each individually priced.
Visitors to the Clearance Room can fill a paper grocery bag with books for $3 or purchase hardcovers for 50 cents and softcovers for 25 cents.
The Book Cellar requests customers bring small bills when shopping as they are unable to make change for $20 on small purchases. Credit Cards can be used on purchases of $5 or more.
Members of the Friends of the Jasper Public Library receive additional Boook Cellar discounts.
Free books from the Book Cellar are available at the library in the section near the magazine area.
The Book Cellar is stocked from community donations. Smaller donations can be dropped off in the collection box located on the main floor of the library annex or inside the entrance to the main library when it is open. Some items are not accepted, including magazines, Reader’s Digests, older textbooks and encyclopedias.
