Bombers win streak comes to an endJuly 8, 2019
From Herald Staff Reports
After a successful weekend that saw them go undefeated, the Dubois County Bombers were defeated by the Muhlenberg County Stallions 5-2 on Monday night in a game that was rescheduled from an earlier date due to a rainout.
The Stallions jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning but the Bombers quickly answered back in the top of the second with an RBI groundout from AJ Arnold to tie things up at 1-1. Dubois County took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third as Chase Hug drove in Evan Kahre with an RBI double. However, that would be the final run the Bombers would score on the night.
Muhlenberg County took the lead int he bottom of the fifth inning on a Dubois County error and added one run in each of the sixth and eighth innings to hold on to the victory.
Kahre and Austin Duffy both had two hits each for Dubois County to lead the way offensively. Brennan LaBarbera, Thomas King, Tim Rogers, Alex Franklin and Benton McGill combined to give up just five hits on the mound while striking out 12 Stallion batters. Rogers led the way with four strikeouts but also walked three batters and took the loss.
