Bombers take three out of four

The Dubois County Bombers were in action every night this past weekend, including a doubleheader on Friday night, but the Bombers didn’t show any signs of wear and tear as they went 3-1 in four games with victories over Muhlenberg County, Paducah and Madisonville.

On Friday, the Bombers split a home doubleheader with the Stallions as they were victorious 10-3 in the first game but fell 3-1 in the second battle. In game number one, Gavin Napier went 3-for-5 to lead the team in hits while Tobe Whitten sent a ball deep out of the stands for a home run. Colton Easterwood got the win for the Bombers. Luke Fitton took the loss in the second game.

On Saturday, the Bombers shutout Paducah en route to a 6-0 victory that saw the Chiefs muster just five base hits. Nick Gonzales led the way with two RBI’s while Evan Sankey pitched a complete game striking out nine batters en route to the victory.

Sunday’s game saw the Bombers break a 5-5 tie in the top of the sixth inning after Nolan Ramsey scored on a wild pitch and Gavin Napier drove Chase Andrews in to score on a double. Napier led the way with three hits including a home run while Tanner Craig also sent a ball deep. The win belonged to Reece Kleinhelter who pitched four innings in relief and gave up just four hits while striking out two. Whitten notched the save for Dubois County.
