Bombers secure sweep

Dubois County needed a late offensive push Saturday night. Spencer Sapp ensured a rally wasn’t needed Sunday.

The Dubois County Bombers swept Hannibal in a weekend series at League Stadium, claiming a 9-8 victory Saturday and a 6-1 decision Sunday.  Sapp (3-1) yielded just one run and six hits in eight innings while striking out two.

Zach Long finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored for the Bombers (31-22, 11-13 second half), and 2011 Heritage Hills graduate Drew Rosbottom played left field and added a two-run single. Rosbottom, who made his debut with the Bombers on Saturday, also scored a run and finished with two hits.

Saturday, the Bombers pushed three runs across in the eighth, as Rosbottom walked to lead off the frame and Landon Curry drove him in with a single. Long followed with a triple and then scored on an error.

The Bombers’ Jeff Zahn ripped a two-run homer in the first inning and finished 3-for-5 with four RBIs.
