Boehm bound for UIndyApril 26, 2013
LINCOLN CITY — Heritage Hills senior Jared Boehm will continue his wrestling career at the University of Indianapolis, choosing UIndy over Rose-Hulman, Wabash College and Indiana University.
“It was a hard decision to choose,” Boehm said. “But in the end, UIndy was my best bet.”
Boehm qualified f
or the state finals the last two years, finished his career with a 146 wins — the second most in program history — and ended his senior season 49-3.
Former Heritage Hills wrestler Jeff Weiss will be a senior next season at UIndy, and Boehm said having someone familiar within the program who could give him advice helped him make the choice.
Boehm, who plans to major in mechanical engineering, also liked the idea of going to a university where he’d have the opportunity to be on his own, and UIndy will help him pay part of his tuition.
“It seemed like the coaches really care,” said Boehm, the son of David and Tina Boehm of Evanston.
“I didn’t just get a tour of the campus, Coach took me on a tour of the city.”
