Blown dust triggers Ferdinand alarm
June 17, 2020From Local Sources
FERDINAND — Units of the Ferdinand Volunteer Fire Department responded Tuesday to an alarm activation at the Sisters of St. Benedict, 802 E. 10th St.
There was no fire associated with the 4:42 p.m. callout, according to Fire Chief John Hoppenjans. Instead, he said, a new air handler had been installed that blew a haze of dust from the ductwork.
The affected hallway cleared on its own and firefighters successfully reset the system.
Four trucks and 15 firefighters were on the scene 45 minutes.
The Ferdinand Police Department and St. Benedict maintenance personnel assisted.
