Communities move trick-or-treating to Tuesday

Due to rain in the forecast for Wednesday, trick-or-treating for Jasper, Huntingburg, Ferdinand and Birdseye will be on Tuesday.

Hours in Jasper, Ferdinand and Birdsdeye are from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Huntingburg hours are from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

Trick-or-treating in Holland remains from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

There are some indoor Halloween events around the county this week, if you’re looking to stay dry:

• Children of all ages are invited to a Halloween Spooktacular event from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Vincennes University Jasper Campus. Admission is free. There will be five trick-or-treat stops throughout the university buildings with the route beginning at the Campus Bistro. Parking is available in the Ruxer Lot.

• First Baptist Church of Jasper, 3556 N. Portersville Road, will host a trunk-or-treat from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. In the event of rain, candy distribution will take place inside the church.

• Huntingburg United Methodist Church, 416 N. Main St., will host a trunk-or-treat on Wednesday. Trick-or-treaters may attend between 5:30 and 7 p.m. Vehicles with decorated trunks and treats will be parked on the south side of the church parking lot. Cookies and drinks will also be served. In the event of rain, candy distribution will take place inside the church.

• Holland’s 32nd annual Halloween Party starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Holland Elementary School gymnasium. This family-friendly event includes costume contests, games for all ages and a pumpkin decorating contest, as well as door prizes.
