HUNTINGBURG — A Birdseye man was arrested Saturday morning on battery charges.
Stephen A. Gomez, 23, 9033 W. State Road 64, was charged with strangulation and domestic battery, both Level 5 felonies, and interfering with reporting a crime, a Class A misdemeanor.
Huntingburg Police officers were notified at 1:15 a.m. Saturday about a possible battery that occurred earlier. They talked to the victim and found out that Gomez argued with her while they were at a business Friday evening, and then choked her. He grabbed the victim’s phone so that she could not call for help, police said.
An Indiana State Police trooper and Crawford County deputy went to Gomez’s residence and located him. Gomez was booked into the Dubois County Security Center.
