Birdseye library sets September eventsAugust 24, 2018
BIRDSEYE — The Birdseye Branch Library has several activities planned for September.
The book club for adults and high school students will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4. The book, “Memoirs of a Geisha” by Arthur Golden, will be discussed. “A Man Called Ove” by Fredrik Backman is the book choice that will be handed out for October discussion. Newcomers are always welcome to join the group which meets the first Tuesday of each month. Extra copies of the current book are available at the Birdseye Library.
An art class for home-schooled students will meet from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 6 and 20. Students will focus on fall-related art projects. The class will meet on the first and third Thursday of each month through September. Preregistration is required.
Saturday at the movies for kids will start at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8. The featured movie is “Lady and the Tramp.” Popcorn and a drink will be available.
Toddler Tuesday is a new event that will take take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11. During the first meet and greet, librarians will get acquainted with other toddlers, read some silly stories and use sidewalk chalk. Parents are to make sure they bring a change of clothes and wash cloths.
Storytime and crafts will be held between 5 and 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13. Children of all ages are invited to listen to a couple of fall stories and make a craft. A snack will be provided.
Saturday kids’ craft time will start at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15. Nicole Lisak will help in making a fall craft. Refreshments will be served. Registration is required. Children under age 8 must bring an adult to help with the craft. A snack will be provided.
A craft club for adults will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18. Making a fall decoration out a wine bottle will be the craft. A snack and drink will be provided. Preregistration is required.
Saturday at the Movies 2 will start at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22. “Edward Scissorhands” is the featured movie, and is rated PG-13. A show for teens and tweens will be held on the fourth Saturday of each month. Popcorn and a drink will be served.
An adult Christian movie night will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27. The featured movie will be “Harvest Moon.” Popcorn and refreshments will be served.
The Birdseye Library Freight Fest will start at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29. Halloween movies, rated either G or PG, will be shown all day. Halloween crafts will be out on the table to sit and do while watching the films.
A nurse will be available for free blood pressure checks every Thursday in September from 2 to 4 p.m.
