Birdseye Library sets January events

BIRDSEYE — The Birdseye Branch Library has several activities planned for January.

The Birdseye Book Club will not meet in January because of the holiday. The first meeting of the year will be Tuesday, Feb. 5.

A nurse will be available for free blood pressure checks from 2 to 4 p.m. each Thursday in January.

Toddler Tuesday will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8.  Toddlers are invited to listen to music and winter stories. Mary will help toddlers make a snowman craft. Parents are asked to bring a change of clothes or to let their children play in the clothes they wear.

Storytime and crafts will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10. Children of all ages are invited to listen as Sharon reads a winter story and to make a snowflake craft. A snack will be provided.

Saturday at the Movies for Kids will start at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12. The featured movie will be “SGT. Stubby: An American Hero.” Popcorn and a drink will be available.

Adults are invited to participate in Winter Bingo Bliss at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15. Seasonal prizes will be presented to the winners. Snacks and drinks will be available.  Registration is required.

The art class for homeschool students will return from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17. January’s class will focus on winter art. The class will meet on the first and third Thursday of each month through May. This semester STEM will be introduced, so get ready for the robots.  Registration is required.

Saturday Kids Craft Time will begin at 1 p.m. on Jan. 19. Join AmyJo in making a silly winter scene craft. Refreshments will be served. Registration is requested. Children younger than age 8 must bring an adult to help with the craft.

The Adult Craft Club will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22. Members will make a snowman hat centerpiece. Refreshments will be served. Registration is required.

Saturday at the Movies 2 will take place for teens and tweens at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26. The featured movie, rated PG, is “Benched.” Popcorn and a drink will be severed.

Adult Hallmark Valentine Movie Night takes place at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31. The featured movie will be “My Secret Valentine.” Popcorn and punch will be served.
