Birdseye Library sets Dec. schedule

BIRDSEYE — The Birdseye Branch Library has several activities planned for December.

The book club for adults and high school students will be held from 4 to 5 p.m.  Tuesday, March 5.  from 4:00-5:00 pm. Newcomers are always welcome to join the group which meets the first Tuesday of each month. Extra copies of the current book are available at the library.

An art class for home-schooled students will meet from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Thursdays, Dec. 5 and 19. Students will be focusing on a Christmas-related art projects. This class will meet on the first and third Thursday of each month through December. Preregistration is required due to limited space.

Santa is Coming to Town at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10. Mrs. Claus also will be with him so make sure to have cameras ready. There will be a winter book sale in the library’s adult room that evening. Santa will be handing out goodies donated by the Birdseye Friends of the Library group. Cookies and apple cider will be available.

Storytime and crafts will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12. Children of all ages are invited to listen to a staff member as she reads a Christmas story and makes a gingerbread in the window ornament. Refreshments will be provided.

Saturday at the movies for kids will start at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. The featured movie will be the new “Angry Birds 2.” Popcorn and a drink will be available.

Christmas Family Night of Bingo will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17. Christmas- and winter-themed prizes will be won as a staff member calls off Christmas shapes. Pizza and drinks will be available. Preregister for this class due to limited space.

Saturday kids’ craft time will start at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21. Join a staff member in tutu making. All supplies will be provided along with apple cider and Christmas cookies. Preregister for this class online or by calling the library.

The Christmas Story movie marathon begins at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26. Children may wear a pink bunny suite or even their pajamas into the library for a chance at a $10 Starbuck’s gift card.

Saturday at the Movies 2 will start at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 23. “The Lion King” is the featured movie, and is rated PG. A movie for teens and tweens will be held on the fourth Saturday of each month. Popcorn and a drink will be available.

A nurse will be available for free blood pressure checks each Thursday in December from 2 to 4 p.m.

The library will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25 for the Christmas holiday and Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 for the New Year’s holiday.
