BIRDSEYE — The Birdseye Branch Library has several activities planned for August.
The book club for adults and high school students will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6. The book, “When Crickets Cry,” by author, Charles Martin, will be discussed. “The Thread that Runs So True” by Jesse Stuart is the book choice that will be handed out for September’s discussion. Newcomers are always welcome to join the group which meets the first Tuesday of each month. Extra copies of the current book are available at the library.
Storytime and crafts will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8. Children of all ages are invited to listen to a librarian as she reads a summer story and helps them make a summer craft. A snack will be provided.
Saturday at the movies for kids will start at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10. The featured movie will be “New Dumbo.” Popcorn and a drink will be available. No registration is required.
Toddler Tuesday will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13. Join Mary Jo Huff as she takes the littles back in time for a day in her time. They will jump rope, play duck, duck, goose and enjoy an afternoon outside with bubbles and chalk time. Parents are to send along a change of clothes or bring toddlers in play clothes.
Saturday kids’ craft time will start at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. Join Amy Jo Lytle to make an outdoors craft. Refreshments will be served. Preregistration is requested and children under the age of 8 must bring an adult to help with the craft.
Family night bingo starts at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20. Prizes will be won as a staff member calls off bingo numbers. Snacks and drinks will be served. Preregistration is required.
Friends of the Library’s annual book sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24.
An adult craft club will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27. Join a staff member as she leads the adults in making embroidery hoop wreaths, the library’s first themed fall project. Refreshments will be served. Preregistration is required.
Family movie night will start at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29. The featured film will be “A Dog’s Journey.” Popcorn and drink will be served.
Saturday at the Movies 2 will start at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31. “New Mia and the White Lion” is the featured movie this month. The library will show a movie for teens and tweens on the fourth Saturday of each month. Popcorn and a drink will be served. Movies are rated PG.
A nurse will be available for free blood pressure checks each Thursday in August from 2 to 4 p.m.
