INDIANAPOLIS — Companies that have set the standard for workplace excellence were recognized Thursday before a crowd of more than 1,200 at the JW Marriott in downtown Indianapolis. The Indiana Chamber of Commerce unveiled rankings for the record 100 companies from throughout the state that made the 2013 Best Places to Work in Indiana list.
Jasper-based Matrix Integration placed 27th among medium companies, those with 75 to 249 U.S. employees.
Among major companies, defined as those with 1,000 or more U.S. employees, Edward Jones and Hilliard Lyons, which have offices in Dubois County, placed second and sixth, respectively;Trilogy Health Services, the parent company of St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper and Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand, placed 11th.
The state’s top small company, defined as those with between 15 and 74 U.S. employees, was law practice Hollingsworth & Zivitz P.C. of Carmel. Tops among the medium companies was Somerset CPAs of Indianapolis. Among large companies, those with 250 to 99 U.S. employees, Sikich LLP of Indianapolis, an accounting, advisory, technology and managed services group, was ranked first, and Microsoft Corp., whose Indianapolis office delivers business consulting on software and technology solutions, was first among major companies.
The top companies in the state are determined through employer reports and comprehensive employee surveys. Out-of-state parent companies were eligible to participate if at least 15 full-time employees are in Indiana.
