Bernice V. Deffendoll, 85, of Jasper, passed away at 11:02 a.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018, at home.
Bernice was born in St. Meinrad on February 2, 1933, to Leo and Bertha (Rickelman) Kunkler. She married Donald L. Deffendoll on June 29, 1957, in St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony. He preceded her in death on May 7, 2014.
Bernice retired from General Electric in Tell City after 38 years.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna and Darlene Deffendoll, both of Jasper.
Preceding her in death besides her husband, are two sisters, Esther Schnell-Barnett and Viola Heitz, and one brother, Leroy Kunkler.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Bernice V. Deffendoll will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.
A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service time at the church on Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
