Benefit planned for cancer patient

From Local Sources

HUNTINGBURG — A benefit for Joe Mullins is planned Saturday, April 28, at Fraternal Order of Eagles, 708 E. Sixth St.

Mullins was diagnosed with inoperable Stage III pancreatic cancer on Dec. 21, 2017. He is currently undergoing treatments and has been unable to work since June 2017 when he had emergency neck fusion surgery to relieve a disc pressing against his spinal cord. After that surgery, Mullins noticed pain in his upper stomach and rib/back area. After a second surgery, a lumbar fusion on his lower back, the pain continued to get worse and then he was diagnosed with cancer.

A meal consisting of pulled pork, green beans, creek fries and creamy cole saw will cost $10 per meal. Dine-in or carryout meals will be served between 4:30 and 7 p.m.

Live music will be performed by Debbie Schuetter from 5 to 6:30 p.m. A silent auction, bake sale and half pot will be held.

Current Situation will play from 8 p.m. to midnight. There is a $5 cover donation.

All proceeds will go to Joe Mullins and Kelly Kluesner. The fundraiser will help with the expenses of surgeries, chemotherapy, medication, transportation and more.

Visit any German American Bank location to donate to the “Benefit of Joseph Mullins.”
