Beckman wins stewardship awardMarch 17, 2014
From local sources
Kenny Beckman has been named the winner of the 2014 OFS Brands Forest Stewardship Award.
The Dubois County Soil and Water Conservation District and OFS Brands annually recognize forest landowners who carry out a wise forestry stewardship program.
Beckman owns more than 200 acres of timberland spread across Bainbridge, Marion and Columbia townships. He also owns about 690 acres of farmland. Beckman’s goal for the forest acreage is to regenerate tulip and oak trees, enabling timber harvests every couple years. In the past six years, Beckman has had three controlled timber harvests. Beckman recommends forest landowners hire a forester to help with their forestry practices.
