Basement book sale set for Saturday

FERDINAND — The Friends of the Ferdinand Library will host a Saturday basement book sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11. Those who attend are asked to enter the sale from the main floor of the library or through the north side doors off the Ferdinand Community Center parking lot.

This month, the library’s display will have all sorts of books to help everyone out with their New Year’s resolutions. Books include those on healthy eating, exercise, financial independence, finding new hobbies, self-help and inspirational stories. Fiction books by the library’s favorite authors also will be displayed.

Newly donated fiction hardbacks and paperbacks are alphabetized by author and ready for sale. Buyers looking for a specific author or nonfiction topic can ask a Friend at the sale for assistance.

Puzzles, games, DVDs and books on CD will be available. The special table of first editions, author-signed and books is full with new additions.

All hardback books are $1; paperbacks are $.50; children’s books, puzzles, games and special books are variously priced. Donations of gently used books and puzzles are always welcomed and appreciated. The new donation receptacle near the basement door has been full of books weekly. All profits go toward adult, children and teen activities at the library. Recently, the Friends donated $450 toward VOX books for children and $100 for the winter reading challenge rewards.

Anyone interested in joining the Friends of the Ferdinand Library for $10 per year can pick up a membership pamphlet and information at the sale or the main library desk. Follow the “Friends of the Ferdinand Library” Facebook page for weekly information about library activities and sales.
