Basement book sale set for Saturday
November 4, 2019FERDINAND — The Friends of the Ferdinand Library will host their basement book sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9. Visitors are asked to enter the sale from the main floor of the library or through the north side doors off the Community Center parking lot.
This month, Christmas books will be displayed. Children’s books, holiday cookbooks, Christmas decorating and craft books, inspirational books, and Christmas novels will be available. A special drawing for holiday books will be held.
Nonfiction shelves of history, science, biographies, art, music and sports have been restocked with recently-donated volumes. The history, science, biography, and sports and recreation books also are grouped by topic.
If there is a favorite author or a specific nonfiction topic that buyers are looking for, just ask a Friend at the sale for assistance. Many books are stored in boxes due to the lack of room on shelves or tables and could possibly be located.
There are several newly-donated puzzles on the puzzle and game table along with recently-donated DVDs. Several books on CD by favorite authors are available for sale. The special books table of first edition, author-signed and extremely nice books has been replenished.
All hardback books are $1; paperbacks are 50 cents; and puzzles, children’s books and “special” books are variously priced.
Donations of gently-used books and puzzles are always appreciated and welcomed. The new receptacle near the basement door for donated items has been full of books weekly.
Anyone interested in joining the Friends of the Ferdinand Library for $10 per year can pick up a membership pamphlet and information at the sale and the main library desk. Follow the Friends on Facebook “Friends of the Ferdinand Library” for weekly information about library activities and our sales.
