A double ring ceremony in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, Ferdinand, united in marriage Aubrey James of Ferdinand and David Welp of Huntingburg. Father David Fleck witnessed the ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013.
Tony and Kathy James of Ferdinand and Greg and Linda Welp of Huntingburg are parents of the couple.
Greeters were Kiersten and Evan Haas, cousins of the bridegroom, and Brianne and Kaitlyn Seffernick, friends of the couple.
Organist was Judy Klueh, and Kaitlyn Emmert and Katie Demuth played the strings. Melissa Reeves, Derek Povinelli, Tim James, Joe LaGrange and Tara Bishop sang “A Mother’s Prayer,” “Holy Family,” “I Have Loved You,” “Wedding Song,” “Surely the Presence” and “Ave Maria.”
Tina Goffinet, aunt of the bride, and Nick Weyer, cousin of the bridegroom, were lectors. Pat James and Dennis Faulkenberg, godparents of the bride, and Sharon Fischer and Ralph Welp, godparents of the bridegroom, carried the offertory gifts. Servers were Reid Haas, cousin of the bridegroom, and Hayden Hilgenhold, cousin of the bride.
Mr. James gave his daughter in marriage. The bride chose her sister, Mackenzie James of Ferdinand, as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Sarah Young of Evansville, Chelsea Miles of Washington, Olivia Weyer of Ferdinand and Shana Luckett of Illinois, friends of the couple, and Ashley Povinelli and Kelli McNamara, both of Indianapolis, cousins of the bride. Bentley Povinelli, cousin of the bride, was flower girl.
Grant Welp of Huntingburg was best man for his brother. Groomsmen were Tim James of New York, N.Y., brother of the bride; Kyle Schroering of St. Anthony, Brandon Hopf of Evansville and Adam Niehaus of Grayville, Ill., friends of the couple; and Michael Lamkin of Ferdinand and Curt Hoppenjans of Arlington, Va., cousins of the bridegroom. Ushers were Devan Faulkenberg of Edwardsville, cousin of the bride, and Chris Fischer, cousin of the bridegroom. Carter Reeves of Brownsburg, cousin of the bride, was ring bearer.
A reception was held at the Ferdinand Community Center.
The couple took a wedding trip to South Carolina.
The bride is a registered nurse at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville. Mr. Welp is a high school math teacher and assistant coach at Apollo High School in Owensboro, Ky.
