CUZCO — A Department of Natural Resources conservation officer accused a Cuzco-area man of operating an all-terrain vehicle on a roadway while intoxicated Sunday evening.

A conservation officer observed an ATV veer into the eastbound lane as it turned west onto Cuzco Road North from County Road 1050E at 6:35 p.m. and noticed that the machine did not have a registration number, according to authorities.

The officer who made contact with the ATV’s operator, identified as Michael W. Troutt, 48, 6733 N. Cuzco Road North, French Lick, noticed signs of impairment and later reported Troutt’s blood alcohol content tested .13% on a portable breath test. Later, in a certified test at the Jasper Police Station, Troutt’s blood alcohol content officially tested .11%, according to authorities.

Troutt was booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 8:14 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated. He posted bond early today.
